Forest Mulch Double Grind
Forest mulch ground a second time. The finer texture is easy to spread, sits evenly and feeds the soil as it breaks down.
- Ground twice
- Finer texture
- Easy to spread
- Sold per m³
Quick answer
Forest Mulch Double Grind starts as organic forest residuals and is ground in two stages to a finer texture. That extra surface area means better water retention, better weed suppression and more even nutrient distribution. It is easier to spread, settles quickly and evenly over garden beds, and breaks down faster than coarser mulches to keep the soil fertile. Lay it about 50–75mm deep.

About the product
How this mulch performs
Double grind is made from the same organic forest residuals as our regular forest mulch and brings the same benefits. The difference is a second pass through the grinder, which takes it down to a finer texture with far more surface area. That makes it especially good at holding water, suppressing weeds and spreading nutrients through the bed. Depending on what you are planting, those extra benefits may be exactly what your garden needs.
The finer grind also makes it easier to work with. It spreads and settles quickly and evenly, and because it breaks down faster than coarser mulches, it keeps feeding your plants and keeps the soil fertile over the long run.
Forest Mulch Double Grind: your questions answered
What does double grind mean?
It’s ground twice for a finer texture. That extra surface area holds more water, suppresses more weeds and spreads nutrients more evenly.
Does double grind mulch break down faster?
Yes. Being finer, it breaks down sooner than coarser mulches. That feeds the soil, but you may need to top it up more often.
How many cubic metres of double grind mulch should I order?
Lay it 50–75mm deep, where each cubic metre covers roughly 13–20 m². Multiply length × width × depth in metres to get your volume, or let our volume calculator do it.
